AN UPDATE, BECAUSE -18 ISN'T ENOUGH - December 23, 2009 Just a quick update! I'm not slacking off -- not at all! I'm just busy with my internship at Rosto AD! My internship ends in January but I will still be working on that project part-time from then on out. In February we get projectgroups of some sort at school wherein you get to qualify yourself for the Masters degree for next year, I really hope I'll make the cut! I want to show my friends quickly and easily what I'm working on, so a blog-type of site would be handy. But, recently, the things I'm working on are all group related, so a SHARED BLOG would be even more logical. And so, it's done. NIGHTTIME CONFESSIONS OF INVERTED NORMALS is a blog I will keep with three of my fellow students. All three cool guys with whom I hope to work with in the future. So, the old Daily Gallery button now directs to this blog and you can check it for regular, or well, at least multiple updates on my work. This site will solely contain work that is done, or work I'm no longer working on. Obsessed with not wanting to show things before they are finished, I simply couldn't update my site. Well, here it is, two of my shorts uploaded; not quite finished. Unrendered. But hey, I don't know if I'll ever take the time to render them, next project has already begun; 2 to 3 minute animation with 3 classmates, scheduled to be done in 16 weeks. Also, two new PICTURAS, AND, don't forget to scroll down the portfolio to the new SPECIAL EFFECTS tab, featuring two INSANELY COOL (ugh) clips for your enjoyment! And please remember the (deceased) daily gallery and weep at its sorrow :( Lots of love, -Gijs AN UPDATE OF DESIRES LONG PASSED - June 07, 2008 Guys, oh guys, oh guys. End of the year is nearing! I HAVE 3 WEEKS LEFT. One of them (THE VERY NEXT ONE!) will be dedicated to France! Annecy, to be more exact. Can't wait! Anyway, so much has been done this last half year, that I didn't even have time to update my site! IT WILL ALL BE HERE SOON, like, next month! And I will have to edit my lay-out a bit and decide where to put my Daily Gallery and all. But really, guys, it's all so awesome, I'm in like the best field evahrrr. So expect more stuff next month! THANKS <3 -Gijs AN UPDATE NAMED KARL - February 08, 2008 Well, I'm halfway through my first year in art school and still really having fun. Decided the last few days that I really need to focus more on my 3d stuff and really get my act together. This update is a good start; added some new things at the portfolio section. And now for me to continue my studies RIGHT AWAY, for there are goals to be achieved. Where I want to go within this field has become alot clearer. Thanks everyone :) -Gijs DEAREST MOTHER - December 29, 2007 My mother died exactly one month ago. After 7 years of depression and 3 years of going to-and-fro between hospitals and clinics, she strongly gasped for her last breath at 17:05 on November the 29th, 2007. She was already unconscious and bleeding from both her mouth and nose, this was the third bleeding in her brain. I was with her for the last five hours of her life and watched as her breathing slowly got worse. Watching her die in these last years has been hell. I will always remember and love her as everything she was; the loving and caring mother, the abusive alcoholic, the lonely woman, and the upbeat, braindamaged love of my life. Everything I will do or make will be in the context of this misbegotten youth. Dearest Mother, I will miss you always. -Gijs AN UPDATE OF SUDDEN AWARENESS - October 25, 2007 Why hello there. The first half of the first semester at my new school is over! It's been great so far! :D Really enjoying myself despite the incredible hardship of having to cross over from Max to Maya... but everything in due time! AMIRIGHT? Anyhow, seriously, things have been nice at school; I even finished my first animation! It's 2D, but still! IT'S RIGHT HERE AND IT IS MADE OF WIN AND BEE. Anyhoo, I updated my portfolio with lots of OLD STUFF I made countless years ago (like, from the beginning of 2002 :D) and it's all pretty awesome. AAAAND I uploaded my first ever Maya scene! I know I failed in bringing life back to this place, so things are gonna change (or rather; they already have). No more Daily Gallery, at least not for a little while, as I started 3d Animation and Visual Effects at the school of arts in Utrecht. Right, I'm not quite sure what will be done with the Daily Gallery, but for now, it'll just stay in place for people to see... I did update my portfolio, though...? -Gijs NOT DEAD YET - April 26, 2007 Hello. Just updating to let you know I haven't forgotten about this place just yet! Quite the contrary, actually. I was recently accepted into art school so from September on out I'll be studying 3d Animation and Visual Effects! Huzzah. Busy with my job, busy with my application for art school (it's that time again...) and busy with my girlfriend (Sascha <3). ANYHOO, I've reorganised the Daily Gallery a bit to shave off some seconds of the loading time; hopefully it's an improvement. The Guest Book is still underway (hurr hurr, everything in time, I guess). AND I'll be updating again! I've got some great ideas for pictures and hopefully I'll be able to make the time to get them done.
